The Movie is Transformed
I've added the old version of my movie onto YouTube, and reaarranged it into something completely new. Now, that 30-minute project (ok, more like 25-ish minute project) has been cut down to 15 minutes. It's not 5-10 minutes as I hoped, but it's still basically cut in half. And now I am finally working on brand-new movie chapters after almost 2 years. These new chapters have been hard, but by keeping the movie SIMPLE for a change, I've squeezed in more detail than I ever th

Gimp Gimp Hooray!
I have a new movie studio for my final pirate movie! My old laptop has been my studio for the past 5 years, when it starts to slow down and show signs of aging, you want a newer laptop to take the wheel in case your other laptop decides to croak without warning. Wouldn't want my only moviemaker to die before I finish my final movie, am I right? Luckily, I have a newer laptop for animation school now. I installed a new Screencast-o-matic (aka ScreenPal) to record with, and a

Breakthrough
Lost in the dark AGAIN? ...Well, not for long! A new year in Animation school has just begun, which means learning a lot about movies... MY movie, too. My 3rd and final feature film I never got around to. To recap, I threw together Battle Morale in 3 and a half months, took a year-long break, then spent around 1 and a half years to make Pirates, Camera, Action! ...With a cliffhanger at the end of that 2nd film, I dived into me 3rd and final film straightaway without a pl

CHANNEL UPDATE: Heave-Ho, Pirate Videos!
Tis I! The noble Invisible Ring, breaking free of me cursed pirate prisons of illness and Artist's block at last; and returning to me long-lost pirate ship I call me YouTube channel... And with it, I vanquish the sea monster of a problem that sunk me ship time and time again. What WAS that monster problem, you ask? Only now do I realize the TRUE monster was me faulty plan. Me monster of a plan was to treat this pirate film like I did me red battle film known as Battle Mo

Night work
The past few production days be a challenge; writing journal pages for me movie and setting the stage for me next animation. But it be not the ONLY thing I've written! Many script revision notes from me editor accumulated over time, and I finally put them into me project as of last night! This may be most excruciating part of me moviemaking (AND the easiest to procrastinate on!) The easy way to fix a movie chapter is go to the movie-editing project, do the proofreading, and

Trudgin' Along
This week has been packed! I'm so tired I can't even think straight enough to think of anything worthwhile to log tonight… Except that I finished a new animation and a vital missing piece I've been meaning to add to my movie for months! …Ok, mission accomplished, I'm back in movie business! Now I be marchin' off to bed now, for I shan’t show ye what I look like with an insomniatic cranky look stuck on me face.

Reviewing Chapters 1 and 2
Months ago, I wrote the first versions of my first 2 chapters. Results? The 2nd chapter needed SO many modifications and rewrites, and the 1st chapter became a movie teaser on my channel! No wonder I got stuck for so long after Chapter 3. If your foundational chapters are faulty, your whole movie book's gonna fall RIGHT out of the binding and it'll take you FOREVER to start all over again! So, after adding the finishing touches in Chapter 1, and switching up the background m

Is There a Doctor in the House?
2 years ago, I mentioned in certain HQ posts that I was ill with some sort of syndrome or sickness, and that sickness lasted so long that it hindered my ability to continue with this 2nd pirate movie. This was my inspiration for that strange illness I get in my 1st pirate movie. But now that I'm finally coming out of that illness, I've been filming for my 2nd pirate movie again, starting with the most appropriate island known as Virus Hunter. It was on that island did Dr. Lan

New Trailer for a New Movie- NOW online!
Looks like my project from the post, "Movie 2, Chapter 1", doesn't it? ...That's because it IS. Since I had no luck with making a trailer for my new movie, the past few days have been spent building a more suitable introductory chapter for the next pirate movie. ...So what would I do with my ORIGINAL part 2 introduction chapter? Well, as my favorite word of wisdom says, one problem can be used to solve another! ...So I was VERY happy to put my little video to good use, and r

Writing and Tossing the Chapters
Sometimes, you can't figure out what chapter to write until you start writing. That's what makes a movie so much like a book; it's sometimes not enough to erase and rewrite chapters. You might have to rip the chapters right outta yer book and start again! As of tonight, I have several animations in the making, including the one in this picture. And the multiple animations reminded me of how many animations I used at the beginning of my FIRST pirate movie. My 2nd pirate movie

Pirate Previews!
Today I just completed a new pirate trailer! (to be released in a few days). I plan to make one more pirate preview, so one down, one to go. You see, this pirate preview was about my 1st pirate movie now available; just like my "Movie Madness" commercial for Battle Morale. The next trailer will be about my 2nd Pirate movie coming soon... 2 new trailers will mean more videos AND more practice for my pirate movie, so it's a win-win!

New Movie needs a New Trailer
I'm stuck! Despite having plans for my 4th chapter and beyond, I haven't been able to make any new movie progress and I couldn't figure out why... Usually when I'm stuck, I go back to my movie trailers and use them as guidelines, like for "Battle Morale" and "Pirates, Camera, Action! Part 1". ...And just when I thought of that, I realized I was making Part 2 of my pirate movie WITHOUT a movie trailer to fall back on. Like "Mockingjay Part 2", "Pirates, Camera, Action Part 2"

Abra-Cadabra!
My 3rd chapter has been transformed! It must be movie magic! That's because it is! ...But no sort of magic is easy to master. That's why the first version of any movie chapter I make is very seldom the final version. So, I flipped a movie camera back on and rewrote the scripts a few times, and NOW I can confidently say that Pirates, Camera Action: Part 2, Chapter 3 is good to go!

Movie 2, Chapter 3: Magic
After watching the first 2 10-minute chapters with new eyes, I finally conjured up my movie magic and formulated today's 2-minute chapter. It wasn't easy. Sometimes, your past and future chapters are well planned-out, but it takes awhile to figure out the chapter in between that connects it all together. And this was the connecting chapter... In your FACE, Rumplestiltskin!

Movie 2, Chapter 2: Mystery
From cozy campfire to newsflash, home island, and study corner, each movie chapter stretches longer with each new location that comes into play. Location, location, location! Last chapter was 10 minutes long, and this one's 8 minutes long. How many more chapters I have to go is a mystery, and so is the length of the next movie. And speaking of mysteries, I think I've got a BIG one on my hands right now! There's DANGEROUS stuff in this study corner that is yet to be solved!

Movie 2, Chapter 1: Fire
I think of my new movie like a campfire: You start with the ring of stones. It shapes your campfire and gives you a space to work around... Like my new movie introduction. Then you need the tinder to start your campfire with. That's my new movie chapter. Like the tinder, my first chapter is the hardest, for this is where you need to get the spark going. This is where you need to get it right, and ignite the light! So, after my post "Scene Transformation", I transformed that s
